Boulder is a very community oriented city, focusing on entertainment to keep everyone that lives and visits here happy & busy with fun activities. The shopping areas in Boulder are diverse and offer a taste of everything including: boutiques, specialty clothing stores, art galleries, jewelry stores, outdoor gear stores, bookstores, unique pet stores, street vendors, restaurants, and much more. This is a very people friendly part of Colorado, and Boulder has empowered a type of economy that is exceptional in that it provides stability for all the creative and locally owned businesses to flourish, allowing you to find items here that are not available any where else. The three most popular shopping areas in Boulder are listed below with a description of each. There are, of course, many other areas to shop in in Boulder and for information on all of these, please visit www.bouldercoloradousa.com and www.boulderdowntown.com

Pearl Street Mall:

This is the most famous shopping mall in Boulder. Streets are lined with full grown trees, grasses, and flowers, creating a beautiful outdoor scene no matter the season. The distinctive and historical architecture that has been preserved helps to create a very relaxed and fulfilling shopping experience on this outdoor pedestrian mall. Pearl Street is alive with festivities, festivals, and parades all year long, and is home to some of Boulder's most cherished and quaint little shops, as well as providing some big name stores for finding essentials more easily. Being a very vibrant and energetic source of entertainment, this mall caters to everyone, from CU students, to young families, to older couples and teens. The four blocks of uninterrupted mall space are consolidated into an easy walking distance that is even enjoyable in the winter and includes a mix of all types of restaurants for easy dining after a day of shopping.

The Hill:

Right across from the university is a historic down town shopping area with beautiful landscaping and views of the Flatirons called The Hill. Just three or four blocks from Pearl Street, this young and colorful outdoor shopping mall caters mostly to CU students and other young crowds, but does have a wide array of stores that everyone could enjoy. There are lots of sports stores, good fast food places, and of course great internet cafes. There are also entertainment venues, including the Fox Theater, over 90 independent businesses and just across the street are some of the oldest buildings on the CU campus.

The 29th Street Mall:

This is Boulder's newest addition, providing a glimpse of Boulder from a different location than either The Hill or Pearl Street. The 29th Street Mall offers a wide array of retail stores, restaurants, coffee shops, and the multiplex Century movie theater right in the great outdoors with beautiful views of the mountains. There is an abundance of convenient parking places, and protection screening to keep you dry as you stroll the mall.

Flatirons Crossing:

Located in Broomfield, 20 minutes away from Boulder and right off of Highway 36, this is an easy mall to find and offers shopping indoors as well as the option to peruse the pedestrian mall outdoors in good weather. There are over 200 shops and department stores and a 14-plex AMC theater.
